Since 2003, Mr. Vanderhoef served as Principal in Advanced Knowledge Management
(AKM), a boutique firm focusing on Hospital and Ancillary
providers strategic, revenue, physician, and operational issues. Prior to this,
he worked as National Director of Contracting Services for
Medical Perceptions Inc., a $10 million healthcare holding company. In this
capacity, Mr. Vanderhoef developed organizational strategic direction and
marketing plans for 3 product lines and marketed and negotiated contracts with
hospitals, physicians and insurance companies.
From 1998 through 2001, Mr. Vanderhoef was an
independent consultant primarily for the Missouri Hospital Association and the
Permanente Consulting Group.
Specific assignments included providing managed care consulting advice, managing
project initiatives involving hospital payment shortfalls
of over $1 billion from disputed HMO claims, and developing a Referral Process
Redesign methodology for Kaiser Permanente’s national
healthcare delivery system. From 1994-1998 Mr. Vanderhoef worked for national
HMOs Coventry, Kaiser Permanente, and United Healthcare managing
contracting staff and negotiating provider relationships. He negotiated numerous
contracts with hospitals and health systems managing $650 million
in contracted providers.
Mr. Vanderhoef received Masters Degrees in Healthcare
Administration and Business Administration from Saint Louis University in 1993
and 1994.
Mr. Vanderhoef also received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
(with an emphasis in Personnel Administration) from the University of Kansas
in 1986.
